Terms & Conditions – Hire House

Effective Date: 30 January 2026

These Terms & Conditions govern the hire of garments from Hire House ("we", "us", "our"). By placing a booking, you agree to be bound by the terms outlined below.


1. Hire Period & Bookings

  • The standard hire period is four (4) days, commencing from the date the dress is collected or the selected delivery date.

  • Late returns will incur a fee of $15 per day, charged to the nominated payment method.

2. Payment

  • Full payment of the hire fee is required at the time of booking.

  • Bookings are not confirmed until payment has been received in full.

3. Collection & Delivery

  • Customers are responsible for ensuring timely collection and return of hired items.

  • Delivery timeframes are estimates only and may be affected by courier or postal delays.

4. Use of the Dress

  • The dress must be worn and cared for appropriately.

  • You must not alter, cut, pin, or permanently modify the dress.

  • Temporary adjustments (such as fashion tape) are permitted, provided they do not cause damage.

5. Cleaning

  • Standard dry cleaning is included in the hire fee.

  • Customers must not attempt to clean the dress themselves under any circumstances.

6. Damage, Loss & Theft

  • You are responsible for the dress from the time it is collected or delivered until it is returned to us.

  • Any damage, staining, loss, or theft may result in charges up to the full retail replacement value of the dress.

  • Minor wear and tear is acceptable and will be assessed at our discretion.

7. Liability

  • We are not liable for any injury, allergic reaction, or damage arising from wearing the dress.

  • We are not responsible for delays caused by postal or courier services or circumstances beyond our control.

8. Returns

  • Dresses must be returned by the agreed due date and in the supplied garment bag or packaging.

  • For postal returns, the parcel must be lodged on the due date.

9. Refunds & Cancellations

  • No refunds or cancellations are permitted once payment has been made, including for change of mind, sizing issues, or event cancellation.

10. Accidental Damage Protection Insurance

Hire House offers optional Accidental Damage Protection for an additional fee of $12.95 per order. This protection is designed to provide customers with peace of mind against accidental damage that may occur during the hire period.

By purchasing Accidental Damage Protection, customers may be covered for eligible accidental damage to hired garments up to a maximum value of $150 per order.

Covered Damage

  • Accidental Damage Protection may cover:
    - Minor to moderate staining
    - Small tears, pulls, or accidental fabric damage
    - Damage that can reasonably be repaired or professionally cleaned

    Exclusions
    Accidental Damage Protection does not cover:
    - Lost or stolen garments
    - Damage caused deliberately or through reckless, negligent, or careless behaviour
    - Excessive damage beyond repair
    - Damage caused by misuse or failure to properly care for the garment
    - Items returned excessively dirty without prior communication
    - Accessories including bags, jewellery, belts, headwear, or clutches
    - Damage occurring after the agreed return date

    If repair or replacement costs exceed the covered amount of $150, the customer will remain responsible for any remaining balance.

    Customer Responsibilities
    Customers must:
    - Notify Hire House as soon as possible if significant damage occurs during the hire period
    - Return all damaged garments by the agreed return date
    - Avoid attempting to clean, repair, alter, or mend damaged garments themselves
    - Provide photos of the damage if requested by Hire House

    Failure to comply with these requirements may result in the protection being void.

    Assessment of Damage
    All damaged items will be assessed by Hire House before determining whether the damage is covered under the Accidental Damage Protection. Hire House reserves the right to determine whether damage is considered accidental, repairable, excessive, or caused by negligence.

    Refunds
    The Accidental Damage Protection fee is non-refundable once an order has been dispatched. If an order is cancelled prior to dispatch and qualifies for a refund under our cancellation policy, the protection fee will also be refunded.

    By purchasing Accidental Damage Protection, customers acknowledge and agree to these terms.
